Research Assistant/Associate in Agriculture

Salary: £28,770-£31,880 per annum (Research Assistant) / £28,770-£41,540 per annum (Research Associate)

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant/Associate in Agriculture to join the Partnership for Child Development (PCD) team.

The successful candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from PCD and partner organisations on the development and implementation of a research programme on strengthening the evidence base of the Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) initiative. In particular, the position focuses on the implementation of impact evaluations of HGSF in sub-Saharan Africa.

PCD is an organisation committed to improving the education, health and nutrition of school-age children and youth in low-income countries. The PCD Team is based within the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology located at St Mary’s campus, Paddington.


This is an excellent opportunity for a well-motivated individual who wants to build on existing experience and knowledge in the field of agriculture to work in one of the UK's leading Universities for a busy and successful group.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have an MSc or equivalent (for appointment as Research Assistant) or a PhD or equivalent (for appointment as Research Associate) in agriculture economics or a similar discipline.
The applicant must have demonstrated ability to design and manage quantitative research studies, including design of field work, training of enumerators, supervision of data entry, data analysis and writing/publication of results and experience in communicating results in different multicultural and multi-stakeholder settings and of working in the field of International Development in sub-Saharan African countries.
