This report represents the culmination of six months of research conducted in Berkeley and three weeks
of work in Ghana. The research issues that are addressed include:

  • An analysis of price trends and markets of key food staples used in Ghana School Feeding
    Program (GSFP) meals;
  • An optimization of regional GSFP menus, with a focus on developing meals that are both
    nutritionally significant and low cost;
  • A study of the value chains of several food staples, with an emphasis on constraints faced by
    smallholder farmers, and potential opportunities for gaining market power.
